This will depend on the type of research you are doing.

OneSearch searches multiple databases at once, which can save you lots of time by not having to individually search through multiple databases. Databases that are in OneSearch have a yellow 1 next to their name on the database list.

Best reasons to search individual databases:

1) When the assignment requires specific databases (ex. PSYC) 

2) You have not focused your topic (I recommend an "in Context" database or SIRS database to look at the topic overview for narrower topics) 

3) The information is not in OneSearch (ex. statistics or literature criticism) 

 

Both OneSearch and the databases can always be found on the library homepage.
