To paraphrase... Carefully read the text to understand the context of the author's ideas. Without looking at the text, write their ideas in your own words. Ask yourself does your paraphrase: Accurately reflect the author's meaning? Connect their ideas to your ideas in the paper or speech? Sound like you are talking? Use different phrasing? Use different sentence structure?
