When you narrow your topic, you then create a research question. A research question aims to focus on what you plan to answer throughout your paper. So, you may start with a larger topic like addiction. It gives you over 15,000 results in the last 5 years, so you know it's too big. You look through some of the results and see marijuana, so you add that to the search. Still too many results. You look through the results again to find even smaller topics and see increased stress levels. Your research question could be: Does addiction to marijuana increase stress levels?
